I’m thrilled to be a 2012 corps member! As my journey to bring equal education to my placement region continues, I’ll blog about my perspective and dispositions. I’m really looking forward to developing as a teacher and an individual
I’m currently studying Middle Grades Education and Geology at Georgia College and State University. Originally, my plan was to graduate with a major in creative writing and grow a huge ego to protect me from my inevitable lack of income as a writer. Instead, I fell in love with a new dream. I wanted to teach. It humbled me, too. I snagged a summer job at a daycare and before the end of the summer I changed my major to teaching and never looked back. I could ramble on about how I’m confident my life was meant to mentor children, but if you’re reading this you probably feel a similar degree of attachment to changing the way students perceive and receive education. A few days ago, I officially accepted the offer to join Teach For America. Here’s to the next two years of my life!
